Customs Entry Writer

Salary: $50k to $58k (depending on experience)

Company benefits: 401k, dental insurance, health insurance, life insurance, paid time off, vision insurance.

Must have at least one year of current experience in Customs Entries within the Freight Forwarding industry.

Must have a valid Visa to work in the USA. Visa sponsorship is not available.

The successful candidate in this position

Key skills and experience include knowledge of international import transportation, import brokerage procedures, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Participating Government Agency (PGA) requirements, including clearance, classification and valuation.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare Arrival Notices and set up opening files.
  • Input data obtained from agents and freight forwarders.
  • File Customs entries for clearance.
  • Coordinate with Customs and other government agencies to obtain release.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Perform tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Team Lead that meet team and department needs.
Billing responsibilities
  • First involvement with ISF filing (import security filing).
  • Issue bills of lading to identify title, payment status, value, and applicable regulations.
  • File Customs entries to the PGA and comply with government guidelines for cargo release.
  • Work with CBP and quarantine issues.
  • Handle fees and duty taxes.
  • File necessary documents such as commercial packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, etc., to clear goods.
  • Sign documents on behalf of clients using power of attorney.
