Operations Manager, General Management
San Francisco, United States | Posted on 03/19/2025
North America represents one of Ultrahuman’s most significant markets, with tech-savvy consumers and a high demand for cutting-edge health solutions. As General Manager – North America
, you will spearhead our operations and growth across the United States and Canada, ensuring Ultrahuman becomes a household name for health optimization. This role requires a leader who can marry strategy with execution — envision the big picture of Ultrahuman’s NA expansion and roll up their sleeves to make it happen, much like how Tesla disrupted the US auto market with both vision and relentless operational focus.
You’ll leverage our engineering and manufacturing prowess as a competitive advantage in delivering superior products and use first-principles thinking to find creative ways to stand out in a competitive landscape. Ultimately, your leadership will shape Ultrahuman’s success in North America, from retail floors to online communities.
Responsibilities:
•
Strategic Growth & Market Penetration: Develop a winning strategy for Ultrahuman in North America. This includes deciding which cities or states to focus on first, identifying key customer segments (e.g., fitness enthusiasts, biohackers, healthcare partners), and tailoring our messaging and products to fit local trends. Continuously assess the competitive landscape and adjust strategies to ensure Ultrahuman’s unique value (deep engineering, integrated design) is well-communicated and appreciated.
•
Retail & Channel Expansion:
Grow Ultrahuman’s local retail and marketplace footprint across NA. Open and manage flagship Ultrahuman stores or experience centers in major hubs (think New York, San Francisco, Toronto, etc.), and build partnerships with select retailers or gyms/health clinics for wider distribution. Oversee performance on e-commerce platforms like Amazon, ensuring high visibility, great reviews, and smooth logistics. Make sure every point-of-sale, whether physical or digital, reflects our brand and provides excellent customer experience.
•
Operational Oversight: Ensure operational excellence in all aspects of the NA business. Monitor and improve store uptime and service quality – if we have demo stations or kiosks, they should always be functional and staffed by knowledgeable reps. Keep a close eye on inventory levels at stores and warehouses, coordinating with the global supply chain to prevent any stock issues. Regularly audit on-ground operations (visit stores, talk to partners) to ensure compliance and quality.
•
Team Building & Leadership: Build a top-notch regional team, including sales leads, marketing managers, operations coordinators, and possibly technical evangelists. Lead by example, fostering a culture of innovation, customer focus, and accountability. Provide training and development opportunities and ensure everyone on the team understands Ultrahuman’s mission and values.
•
Stakeholder Management: Serve as Ultrahuman’s key representative in North America. Engage with important stakeholders — this could range from media and influencers who can amplify our story, to local regulatory bodies for product approvals, and to enterprise clients or healthcare systems for partnerships. Navigate any region-specific challenges (like FDA compliance for health features or trade regulations for imports) with expertise and support from HQ.
•
Experience: 8+ years in business leadership, general management, or expansion roles, specifically with significant exposure to the US market (Canada exposure a plus). You’ve managed a business unit or country/region for a high-growth company, ideally in the consumer tech, wearable, or healthcare device space.
•
Proven Results: Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and market share. You have stories of how you took a product or brand from relative obscurity to a notable market position in NA. Experience managing a P&L in the tens of millions of dollars or more.
•
Market Insight: Deep knowledge of North American consumer behavior and retail/e-commerce dynamics. You understand how to localize global marketing campaigns to American/Canadian…
