What We Do

The Information Systems Division provides department-wide training and support to users of the department’s LAN and applications; coordinates City-provided technical services and support with the Department of Technology; manages the functional and technical teams assigned to develop and maintain the department’s Pension Administration system and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) project; oversees the department’s cybersecurity protocols; and leads the department’s disaster recovery and business resumption planning and policy efforts.

What We’re Looking For

Under administrative direction, the IS Project Director leads and oversees IT projects from initiation to completion, across multiple divisions of SFERS. This role involves ongoing and continuous project oversight, strategic planning, resource management, risk mitigation, stakeholder engagement, and effective leadership. The IS Project Director is responsible for ensuring project success, adherence to budgetary constraints, and compliance with quality standards and security protocols.

This role encompasses all aspects of project management, including communication, documentation, change management, issue resolution, and post-project evaluation.

The 1070 Project Director will oversee new initiatives including Cloud application management, research and development of modernized business/intelligence analytics and processes, and research and development to automate and streamline business processes.

Examples of primary duties may include:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, requirements, and success criteria.
  • Create detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules aligned with project goals and deadlines.
  • Identify project resource requirements, including personnel, equipment, and budget.
  • Allocate resources effectively to optimize utilization and ensure project success.
  • Proactively monitor and address project risks, identifying potential issues impacting project delivery.
  • Develop risk management plans to mitigate risks, minimize impact, and ensure project continuity.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, milestones, and key decisions through meetings and reports.
  • Engage with project stakeholders to understand requirements, expectations, and feedback.
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholder needs and project objectives.
  • Monitor project budget and expenditures, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Track project costs and report budget status.
