Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct the search for a Director of Asset Management (Affordable Housing) on behalf of our client, a mission-driven affordable housing organization. This is a direct-hire opportunity based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work structure.
OverviewThe Director of Asset Management oversees asset performance, third-party property management, regulatory compliance, capital planning, and long-term portfolio strategy. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, financial expertise, and deep experience in affordable housing asset management, ideally within the San Francisco housing landscape.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement long-term asset management strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Oversee third-party property management firms and ensure regulatory and financial compliance.
- Analyze property financials, budgets, and performance data to guide strategic decision-making.
- Identify and recommend capital improvement and rehabilitation projects.
- Manage and monitor LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) compliance, financial reporting, and partnership exit strategies.
- Supervise the asset management and facilities team and collaborate closely with finance, development, and resident services teams.
- Lead due diligence on acquisitions, oversee insurance coverage, and monitor commercial leasing activities as needed.
- Represent the organization in external meetings with partners, lenders, residents, and community stakeholders.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in affordable housing asset management.
- Strong knowledge of LIHTC, affordable housing finance, and San Francisco housing regulations.
- Experience overseeing budgets, capital planning, and third-party property management.
- Proven supervisory and leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- Ability to analyze legal and regulatory documents and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.
This position offers an annual salary between $190,000–$195,000, in addition to a comprehensive benefits package.
