The Organization Development Consultant partners closely with UCSF-wide senior leadership, bringing extensive expertise in organizational development, business process analysis, strategic planning, and effectiveness to projects with organization-wide impact. They possess a deep understanding of business needs and how clinical, technical, and administrative systems can be leveraged to support those needs. With broad-ranging experience, they address complex organizational development challenges, crafting solutions that align with overarching objectives and resolve issues with significant organizational consequences.

The Organization Development Consultant manages high-level strategic engagements with exceptional political sensitivity, requiring comprehensive evaluation of circumstances and information to guide decision-making. They exercise sound judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve optimal results. Regularly collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, they ensure alignment between organizational plans and objectives. Renowned as a subject matter expert in performance management and employee engagement, they are widely recognized for their expertise and contributions in these areas.

The

final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification  positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $167,800 - $251,700 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

UCSF Learning & Organization Development Department oversees the creation and implementation of learning solutions for all UCSF staff, managers and executives, as well some faculty who perform operational roles or impact operational processes. Our purpose is to lead talent development strategies which inspire professional excellence and attract, develop, and retain outstanding & diverse people, who together advance health worldwide. The key services that our department provides to individual learners, departments and organization's executives are:

  • Staff and leadership development
  • Workforce Development
  • Organization development, effectiveness and change management
  • Staff Engagement Resources
  • Learning Management System Administration
  • E-Course development
  • Performance Management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Expert knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized performance management, talent development and succession planning interventions. Minimum of 15 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of the consulting process to effectively lead highly significant engagements from inception to conclusion
  • Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large academic medical center to understand client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints
  • Demonstrates superior analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills
  • Possesses superior consulting, relationship building, and strategic thinking skills
  • Demonstrates superior strategic-thinking and consulting skills in guiding the organization toward workable strategies and solutions
  • Highly-skilled in navigating organizational complexity
  • Incorporates excellent skills in change management programs on a regular basis
  • Have superior written, verbal and presentation skills for influencing and facilitating sustained change
  • Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained. Sound judgment, ability to draw unbiased conclusions
  • Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision
  • Ability to facilitate and influence people at all levels. Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations. Ability to handle multiple constituencies, agendas, engagements and tasks, and to deal productively with ambiguity and conflict

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large academic medical center to understand client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints
  • Experience with UC culture and practices
