Job Summary
The Executive Director Ambulatory Access & Services provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for UCSF’s outpatient imaging enterprise across all ambulatory sites, satellites, and community locations. This leader is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centered ambulatory imaging operations & access that meet UCSF Health’s standards of high reliability, quality, access, and experience. The Executive Director oversees multidisciplinary teams, collaborates with faculty & clinical partners and business unit leaders, drives performance improvement, and ensures sustainable growth aligned with institutional priorities.
ResponsibilitiesAccountable for the overall administrative & strategic planning and coordination of the staffing, fiscal and material resources. Assists with the development and implementation of new programs and policies. This role provides vision, leadership and accountability in developing, driving and deploying strategic expansion, integration and key initiatives across the UCSF Health system. Has authority and accountability for various health system operations for imaging, including but not limited to optimization of operational performance, access & scheduling, service line development, quality of care, patient satisfaction, human resources, and capital/facility planning.
Reports directly to the Vice President of Clinical Services and is a dyad partner with the Executive Director of Inpatient Radiology Services. The Executive Director collaborates with leadership and management in Imaging across a broad spectrum of responsibilities. The position participates in the development and administration of clinical, scheduling and business operations and directs and supervises ambulatory site based activities through management and support staff.
Designs and leads strategic and operational planning for multiple disciplines/modalities in Radiology Imaging Ambulatory Services across UCSF Health. This includes multiple sites spanning outpatient services, adults and pediatrics while partnering with the Executive Director of Inpatient Radiology Services and other supporting roles. Accountable for the overall administration, financial management and planning, human resources functions, and oversight of fiscal and material resources across sites.
Develops and monitors financial, productivity & key performance metrics that maximize efficiencies and economies of scale across sites and modalities. With physician departmental leaders, develops and implements patient care service standards, ensures maintenance of high quality and safety standards for patients and employees, ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, and develops new business strategies to improve performance and increase access & market share.
This role collaborates with the Director Imaging Quality, Radiation Safety Officer, department physician medical directors and vice chair of Quality & Safety, to ensure quality & safety initiatives are implemented & sustained.
