About the job
Back Ops is redefining how modern operations teams run their businesses.
We are experiencing monumental growth, expanding into new enterprise verticals, and building several major capabilities that have not yet been publicly announced. As we scale, the gap between our ambition and our internal operating foundation is widening, and closing it is now a priority. We are looking for a Chief of Staff to work directly with our CEO: to build the systems the company runs on, own the operational details that cannot slip, and grow into a strategic right hand as the foundation matures.
If you are a high-agency builder who gets satisfaction from turning chaos into something that runs cleanly, wants real ownership early, and has the ceiling to grow into board-level strategic work, this role is for you.
The RoleAs Chief of Staff, you will be the CEO's trusted right hand and a force multiplier across the company. You will start by taking ownership of the operational backbone we have not had time to build, beginning with billing and core internal systems, and you will expand into financial modeling, board materials, and strategic partnership as you earn scope.
This is a high-ownership role with your hands firmly on the work. Early on, the weight sits on operations and cleanup. Over time it shifts toward strategy, finance, and acting as a genuine extension of the CEO. You will work directly with the founders and touch nearly every part of the business, with an unusually direct line to how decisions get made.
WhatYou'll Do
- Build and sharpen the internal systems and processes that keep the company organized as it grows
- Coordinate operational projects end-to-end, including new office setup, vendor management, and logistics
- Support the CEO's operating cadence and run the company's day-to-day administrative function
- Build board decks, investor materials, and financial models as you grow into the role
- Partner with the CEO on strategic priorities and take ownership of ambiguous, high-stakes problems
- Establish the tooling, data, and processes that let the company operate with rigor as it scales
- 5 to 7 years in a fast-paced environment such as operations, consulting, banking, or a high-growth startup
- A track record of building something from the ground up, whether a process, a function, or a small operation
- Strong organizational instincts and genuine comfort operating without a playbook
- Analytical horsepower, including the ability to build clean financial models and clear presentations, or to grow into it quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with enough business fluency to be credible in investor and board conversations
- A builder's instinct: able to stand up and scale a function, not just maintain one
- Willingness to stay close to the work and personally own operational details at this stage
- High ownership, low ego, and a real appetite for responsibility
- Monumental growth trajectory
- Several major product expansions launching soon
- Direct access to founders and leadership
- Real influence on how the company operates and scales
- The chance to build the systems and playbook on an early foundation
- A clear path to expanded scope and leadership as the company grows
- Competitive base + equity
