Salary: $160,000 to $185,000 annually, commensurate with experience

- Interview process: 30 minute phone screening, 1:1 virtual interview with Executive Director, onsite interview with Leadership team and Executive Director (10/13/26, 10/24/26, or 10/15/26), and final 1:1 interview with board member
- There will be a take home skill assessment assigned during the interview process
- The position will begin in January 2027. There will be a 3 to 4 day onboarding / position hand off scheduled in November or December 2026.

The Director of Finance is a strategic thought-partner, and reports to the Executive Director. The role requires hands-on and participative management, and the ability to lead and develop the internal team, and work with applicable contracted outsources, to support the following areas: financial management, Board of Director’s committees, risk management, payroll and employee benefits.
The Director of Finance plays a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as Raphael House of San Francisco, Inc. (RH) continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. The position requires a financial leader able to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Management and Compliance:
- Oversees all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
- Analyzes and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly and annual financial statements.
- Effectively communicates and presents the critical financial matters to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
- Acts as primary liaison with external auditors and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors in coordinating and leading the annual audit process.
- Coordinates the completion of all other annual compliance documents related to the audit (e.g., Information Return Form 990 and related filings).
- Is responsible for the timely annual filing of federal, state and local compliance documents and reports, including, but not limited to:
- Annual W-2s and W-3s through the payroll outsource;
- Annual Forms 5500 for the Raphael House 403(b) Plan
- City and County of San Francisco Annual Claims for Welfare Exemption on real properties;
- City and County of San Francisco Annual Forms 571-L, Business Property Statement.
- City and County of San Francisco Annual Business Registration;
- Secretary of State Statement of Information for the Corporation, Form SI-100, due biennially.
- Oversees and leads the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Executive Director; administers and reviews all financial plans and budgets; monitors progress and changes and keeps senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
- Manages organizational cash flow and forecasting.
- Implements a robust financial management/reporting system, including comprehensive restricted funds accounting system, and an efficient system for pledge accounting and tracking; ensures that financial data and cash flow are accurate and support operational requirements.
- Responsible for implementation of accounting and financial process improvements, including digitization of accounting transactions. Evaluates adequacy of accounting systems to deliver transactions and reporting efficiently, and recommends/leads transition to successor systems as appropriate.
