You’ll be leading development teams that are building highly distributed systems to enable merchants to deliver orders to their customers with incredible speed.

As the Software Development Manager, you will be a leader known for hiring, developing, and retaining the best talent. This leader consistently builds high‑performing teams by attracting and developing top‑tier talent. You will possess the ability to motivate, build rapport, and communicate effectively with all employees. You will be an innovator, communicator, influencer, and problem solver, with solid technical judgment and a pragmatic approach to business.

• Drive the development of systems that enable sellers to leverage Amazon’s fulfillment capabilities.
• Hire and develop the best talent, creating an environment that motivates people to thrive in their expertise and deliver results.
• Define and constantly monitor metrics to improve performance and reduce cost.
• Prepare executive‑level communications to share tactical plans, estimates, justify investment, and highlight product performance.

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services experience.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live‑site operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) new and existing systems.

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective.
