About the Role

Shade Technician – a hands‑on role creating and customizing hand‑woven shades at the Bayview District workshop. No prior shade experience required.

• Assemble hand‑woven shades, including measuring and making adjustments.
• Use hand tools such as scissors, hammer, ice pick, hand‑saw, and staple gun.
• Work from a ladder up to six feet or higher when necessary.
• Assist in opening, sorting, and bundling shades upon receipt of shipments.
• Move, carry, and store boxes, tubes, and other materials.
• Record measurements on shades for quality‑control requirements.
• Help with clean‑up at the end of the day.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Basic sewing experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Willing to learn more about our product and processes.
• Display motivation and enthusiasm for the work.

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide two‑digit numbers and perform operations using units of US money, measuring tape, and weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to understand and follow detailed written or oral instructions for standardized tasks.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Regularly stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, walk, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally sit, climb, balance, talk, or hear.
• Regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Close vision and color vision necessary for the position.

The job requires standing, using hands to manipulate tools, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting as described above. The employee must be able to handle the physical demands of the work environment.

• Hourly wage: $20.00 – $22.00, dependent on qualifications and experience.
