Production Quality Intern (Fall 2026)

Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, expanding humanity's reach into the solar system. Today, Astranis satellites provide dedicated, secure networks to highly sophisticated customers across the globe—large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and many more set to launch soon, the company is servicing a backlog of more than $1 billion of commercial contracts.

Four billion people do not have access to the internet. Astranis is going to change that. We are building the next generation of smaller, lower‑cost telecommunications satellites to bring the world online, and to pull it off we have to reinvent microwave radio systems in space using SDRs.

Work with incredibly smart people who have flown things in space before. We are a well‑funded team that moves fast. No prior space experience needed; you just need to enjoy getting your hands dirty with real hardware and be okay with struggling to do things that seem impossibly hard.

Our mission and our products are meant to connect the whole world and everyone in it, regardless of race, creed, or any other distinction. We believe in a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we encourage all people to join our team and bring their unique perspective to help make us stronger.

Role
  • Work with Design, Production, Quality, and Test engineering teams to develop inspection and verification procedures
  • Support root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions to mitigate non‑conformance issues
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather relevant data and insights for continuous improvement in quality
  • Support process and systems development to improve production quality
  • Develop dashboards, metrics, and visuals to help identify and monitor factory health
Requirements
  • A passion for hardware development and manufacturing systems, including working in a fast‑paced environment and hands‑on design and development
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be onsite 5 days a week
Bonus
  • Previous internship or coursework experience in a similar role
  • Experience with quality management systems or hardware manufacturing
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Direct electrical or mechanical design experience
  • Demonstrated ability to debug hardware and software problems under time pressure

The base pay for this position is $29.00 per hour.

U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required
