About the job

The Global Communications and Public Affairs team communicates with priority audiences, from creators to developers to media, and other influential voices about Google's mission, its AI‑powered products and approaches.

In this role, you'll work cross‑functionally with teams across the world to devise proactive communications campaigns to advance Google's business. We're looking for a great communicator and networker who can lead a strong team and distill topics with priority audiences simply and engagingly. To succeed, you'll need to combine creativity with organizational skills and manage numerous projects to tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to journalists, bloggers and commentators.

You’ll need to be an enthusiastic team player, take initiative, work cross‑functionally, and be someone who isn't afraid to take risks or try new things. The Head of Research and Science Public Relations (PR) leads the global communications strategy for Google Research, focusing on positioning Google as a leader in advancing technologies that improve lives and benefit society. You will lead a “Research to Reality” narrative, demonstrating how Google’s scientific depth from expert researchers to exceptional infrastructure solves pressing global problems.

You'll maintain excellent relationships with journalists and influencers; support your team’s development of written materials and plans; and drive strategies that go direct to key audiences. A major part of the role is collaborating with executives across the organization and bringing a deep understanding of the strategy required to adapt to a shifting media and information landscape. We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders and our own employees—about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture, values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day.

You are quick‑witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross‑functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.
