The Senior Director of Major Gifts & Donor Relations plays a critical role in generating revenue for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) by developing and overseeing a comprehensive donor stewardship and cultivation program, implementing moves-management strategies, and actively managing a portfolio of individual and institutional funders. The candidate in this position will champion the active use of our CRM by all Development staff and the Executive team.
The Senior Director will oversee the use of our My Club Hub (built on the Salesforce platform) donor and volunteer CRM to ensure the department is meeting fundraising goals and is effectively tracking donor progress.
The Senior Director will supervise the Database Manager and Individual Giving Manager. As a leader on the senior management and development teams, the Senior Director will also support the overall direction of the fundraising plan and must collaborate well across departments as well as effectively collaborate with Board Members and key stakeholders on cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation strategies. This position is full time and based out of our Main Office in San Francisco.

- Create and implement a fundraising strategy to identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with individual and institutional donors, with a focus on growing revenue and diversifying the donor base.
- Manage a portfolio of major donors ($10,000+), aiming for 100 meaningful visits annually to build connections, make solicitations, and secure gifts.
- Collaborate with the Senior VP of Development to plan and execute events that bring together key stakeholders, including the Trustee Board, Emeritus Board, Alumni, and other important donors.
- Create a moves management system and oversee its implementation and ongoing use and management; champion your commitment to accountability and transparency by thoroughly documenting all donor moves in CRM.
- Work closely with BGCSF leadership and development teams to develop strategies for joint solicitation, inclusive materials and overall donor engagement.
- Support Board members, Trustees, and other volunteers by providing resources and strategies to assist with donor engagement and cultivation.
- Provide leadership and support for Planned Giving and non‑operating campaign support. To include identifying key prospects for these giving vehicles and developing materials and proposals for conversation and discussion.
- Actively engage in the San Francisco philanthropic community and seek creative ways to tell BGCSF’s story to inspire support.
- At least 5 years in fundraising with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role for gift solicitation.
- Must have a proven record in identifying, cultivating, and directly soliciting major gifts while being an innovative, creative, strategic, and analytical thinker with superior presentation skills.
- Presence to engage effectively with diverse constituencies including donors, Board members, and leadership staff.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and data analysis. Must have knowledge of fundraising software, preferably Salesforce.
