Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, Education, Public Health, or a related field OR equivalent professional and community experience
• 2+years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school youth in educational, community-based, or youth development settings.
• Strong relationship-building and engagement skills with youth, families, community partners, and staff.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and program coordination skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
• Commitment to youth development, prevention services, and organizational values.
• Availability to work Saturdays and occasional evenings as required.
• Proficiency with documentation, data collection, and reporting requirements.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
• TB Test Clearance within the last two years, as required for programs located on school district sites.

Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Youth & Families Programs, the Family Program Specialist supports the development, coordination, and delivery of youth and family prevention programs funded through the San Francisco Department of Public Health. The position focuses on fostering positive youth development, family engagement, leadership development, and successful transitions between school-year and summer programming. The Teen Program Specialist collaborates with students, families, schools, and community partners to facilitate evidence-based services, provide case management support, and ensure program goals, compliance requirements, and participant outcomes are achieved.

• Coordinate, facilitate, and implement evidence-based youth and family prevention programs in alignment with grant, curriculum, funding, and Department of Public Health requirements.
• Design and implement transition, enrichment, and leadership development opportunities for youth.
  
  Support the delivery of Strengthening Families Program (SFP), Life Skills Training (LST), and other approved prevention curricula.
• Plan and manage program schedules, logistics, activities, and deliverables.
• Facilitate workshops, groups, and activities that promote positive youth development and family well-being.
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, community members, and partner organizations.
