The OpportunityReporting to the Chief Development Officer, this staff member will help launch and grow ALC's individual giving program in support of the organization's mission, values, and long-term sustainability. This is a new role and an exciting opportunity for someone to help shape the vision, strategy, and systems for individual giving at ALC at a pivotal moment in the organization's growth. They will manage strategies to strengthen donor engagement across giving levels, deepen relationships with current supporters, and help bring new individual donors into ALC's community of advocates and partners.
A critical part of the role is building and sustaining meaningful donor relationships grounded in ALC's work and vision, including partnering closely with program staff, leadership, and board members to connect supporters to the impact of ALC's litigation, policy, and community-based advocacy. ALC has a robust donor community, including alumni—former staff, board members, and volunteers—who have stayed connected to the organization over many years.
This role offers an important opportunity to more intentionally cultivate and steward those longstanding relationships.
This staff member will also help expand the reach of ALC's individual giving program. While many of ALC's current donors are based in the Bay Area, the organization is eager to grow its fundraising footprint statewide and nationally in alignment with the scope and significance of its work. The right person will bring the strategic thinking, relationship‑building skills, and initiative needed to broaden ALC's donor base, strengthen connections beyond the Bay Area, and help build a more expansive network of individual supporters over time.
Because this is a new role, the Individual Giving Officer will play a central part in devising and implementing strategy, helping generate increased cash flow and fundraising momentum so that ALC can continue to invest in and build out its development team over time. They will be part of a small individual giving team composed of a Director of Alumni Giving and Development Associate (the Development Associate also supports the institutional giving team).
The right person will be energized by the opportunity to build, test, and strengthen systems and approaches in partnership with colleagues across the organization.
The ideal candidate has a strong track record in individual fundraising and is a skilled relationship-builder, strategic thinker, and strong project manager. They are comfortable balancing day-to-day donor cultivation and stewardship…
