- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management or related field or equivalent professional and community experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in program compliance, contract management, or nonprofit administration.
- Prior experience working with government-funded programs (federal, state, or local).
- Demonstrated experience with database management, data reporting, and quality assurance.
Strong working knowledge of nonprofit program compliance, funder monitoring practices, and regulatory requirements. - Familiarity with nonprofit board governance principles and by-laws compliance a plus.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex funder guidelines, grant agreements, and regulatory standards.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear compliance reports and present findings to leadership.
- Proficiency with database systems, data entry, and report generation; experience with relevant program databases.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with program staff and external stakeholders.
- Experience supporting board governance processes in a nonprofit setting preferred.
The Director of Grant Contract Compliance is responsible for ensuring that all agency programs operate in full compliance with funder guidelines, contractual obligations, and applicable legal requirements. This position serves as the organization's primary steward of program compliance— maintaining audit-ready documentation, overseeing data integrity and reporting, and ensuring that programs meet both funder and agency expectations as well as comply with funder and agency policies, protocols and mandates.
The position also directly supervises Data Support Specialist staff who support compliance work.
Additionally, this position is concerned with ensuring that Urban Services’ Community Action Board governance meets both funder expectations and agency by-laws and will require working with the Board in collaboration with the senior leadership of Urban Services’ Community Action contract. This role does not carry financial compliance responsibilities; those functions are managed separately through the Finance department.
