Job Summary

The SCOPE Project, part of the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases & Global Medicine at ZSFG, is a cohort study of HIV-infected individuals supporting clinical, translational, and interventional research. Directed by Drs. Steven Deeks, Jeffrey Martin, and Michael Peluso, it also includes LIINC, a SARS-CoV-2 cohort studying long‑term impacts of infection. The NP will collaborate with program managers, nurses, coordinators, and analysts to implement HIV and COVID‑19 research protocols and trials, including tissue sampling and interventional studies.

Additionally, the NP will provide care in the Long COVID Clinic, conducting assessments, care planning, and multidisciplinary coordination for patient outcomes.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification  positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $105.50 – $136.83 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is an internationally recognized global leader in clinical care, research, and education. With its home‑base located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), the Division has been ranked as the top facility in the country for AIDS care since 1983. The Division’s work is featured frequently in the media, and it is often visited by numerous international, national, state, and local dignitaries and delegations.

The Division consists of approximately 38 faculty members, 16 fellows/postdoctoral scholars and 170 academic and staff employees. It is the largest Division of the Department of Medicine (DOM) at ZSFG, with a total expenditure budget of approximately $52 million dollars.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a nurse practitioner in an academic research institution with a focus on providing care for HIV‑positive patients or managing other infectious diseases or conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in research studies.
  • Experience working with people with Long COVID or other infection‑associated chronic conditions.
  • Human Subjects Protections and Good Clinical Practice certification.
  • Language competency in second language (Spanish preferred).
License/Certification
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction
  • California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
  • California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number including Schedule II furnishing privileges
  • NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role:
  • California Driver License (if required for position)
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Additional required AHA certifications:
    None additional to BLS
  • Additional required certifications (such as ENLS):
    None

UCSF Medical Center and Campus require certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60‑90 days but can vary.
