Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

Under general supervision, guided by the policies and procedures of the Medical Center and Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with providers and administrative management, the Ambulatory Oncology Nurse Care Coordinator works autonomously, utilizing the nursing process, to assess, plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate patient care within the ambulatory setting for a panel of pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients with oncology related conditions.
S/he will utilize a high level of clinical knowledge to fulfill patient needs, ensure efficient patient care, and provide patient education when necessary. The Clinical Nurse II will act as a patient advocate and as a liaison between insurance companies, inpatient/outpatient services, patients/families and all other necessary healthcare services to manage and facilitate efficient and timely care received in clinic as well as coordination of care.
In addition, the Clinical Nurse II will assist in the development of patient care standards and practices.
The Clinical Nurse II is responsible for:
* clinic procedures needed by Oncology patients including but not limited to central line care and dressing changes, lab draws, port access, medication administration, assistance during lumbar punctures including medication administration, patient assessment and any needed nursing interventions.
* coordinating outpatient services and needs including assisting with insurance authorizations, contacting home health companies, assuring DME and other home supplies are adequate, assisting with medication refill requests, manage any needs for research studies/submissions, patient teaching and assisting in the overall coordination of timely patient care.
Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
Required Qualifications
* This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
* Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing RN experience, including:
* Pediatric Hematology/Oncology outpatient experience
* Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Case management experience
* Experience with the use and care of portocaths, central lines, and drawing labs required.
* Knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
* Recent experience in the use of electronic medical record documentation
* If associating with an SCC, have a minimum of one-year pediatric clinical experience providing nursing care for patients with the disease(s) or related condition(s) specific to that SCC.
* BSN

* Ability to communicate clearly
* Ability and experience managing large case loads
