Lead Certified Nurse Midwife, Obstetrics & Gynecology (On-site)
Location:
San Francisco, California. Salary: $92.80 per hour - $134.56 per hour.
Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is seeking a motivated Lead Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our team in San Francisco. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with a highly collaborative team providing high-quality, patient-centered care across the full scope of midwifery services.
About the OpportunityAs a Lead Certified Nurse Midwife, you will serve as a clinical leader within the Women’s Health team, providing comprehensive midwifery care across the continuum—including prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecologic services. In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will play a key role in guiding team practices, supporting professional development, and advancing high-quality, patient-centered care. This role offers a dynamic blend of outpatient and inpatient responsibilities, with opportunities to contribute to program development, patient education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Point-of-care ultrasound is an integral part of this role.
- Provide full-scope midwifery care, including prenatal visits, labor and delivery management, postpartum care, and routine gynecologic services.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to CNMs and other clinical staff, supporting skill development and best practices.
- Support team operations, including scheduling coordination, workflow optimization, and clinical coverage planning.
- Partner with leadership to drive program development, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of evidence-based care models.
- Perform and interpret point-of-care obstetric and gynecologic ultrasounds.
- Conduct patient evaluations, follow-ups, and hospital-based care in collaboration with OB/GYN physicians and care teams.
- Support labor and delivery, including triage, admissions, and management of low- to moderate-risk pregnancies.
- Perform routine procedures within CNM scope, such as well-woman exams, contraception management, and screenings.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including obstetricians, nurses, lactation consultants, and pediatric providers.
- Provide patient education on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and reproductive health.
- Contribute to onboarding and orientation of new midwifery staff.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program.

Skills:
5‑7 years practicing as a Certified Nurse Midwife and ideally 2 years as a Lead CNM; demonstrated competency in obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound and experience performing and interpreting point-of-care ultrasound. - Licensure &
Certifications:
Current California Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) license, Furnishing Number, DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate (CSRC), current BLS and ACLS certifications.
