Neurosurgery | NP | 26-Week Travel Contract – San Francisco, CA Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner Locum Tenens Job in San Francisco, California

Experienced Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner needed for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in San Francisco, CA. This on-site role supports adult patients in both inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery settings, including high-acuity surgical and neurocritical care populations. Located in the 94131 area, this San Francisco healthcare job offers access to scenic neighborhoods, world-class dining, culture, and outdoor recreation.

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,600-$6,000
  • Start Date: 8/31/2026
  • Assignment Length: 26 weeks with potential extension
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday
  • Setting: Inpatient and outpatient hospital-based neurosurgery

Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner

Job Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience required; 1-2 years of neurosurgery, neurology, or complex surgical floor experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Neuro ICU patients may be considered
  • Current board certification as ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC required
  • BLS certification required
  • Ability to work with adult neurosurgical patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Comfort managing high-acuity cases and collaborating within a multidisciplinary surgical team
  • Provide comprehensive care for adult neurosurgery patients in both inpatient and outpatient environments
  • Manage post-operative follow-up, case coordination, imaging orders, and ongoing treatment plans
  • Support inpatient care for patients with brain tumors, meningiomas, neurocritical conditions, and other complex neurosurgical diagnoses
  • Assist with management of high-acuity transfers from outside facilities
  • Perform clinical procedures such as drain removal; training may be available for EVD drain removal
  • Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with the care team
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
