Registered Nurse (RN) – Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Pre-Post Op
Location: San Francisco, CA
Agency: United Health Care Staffing, Inc.
Pay: $2,050 to $2,250 per week
Shift: Days – 5 days x 8 hours (Monday‑Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Contract: Travel Contract, 13 weeks (Start: 04‑28‑2026, End: 07‑28‑2026)
Roles & Responsibilities- Provide safe, high-quality PACU care for post‑anesthesia patients, including monitoring and recovery
- Manage airways and support anesthesia recovery with sound clinical judgment
- Assess and manage pain effectively, using multimodal strategies and patient education
- Perform IV therapy, start and maintain IVs, and manage central/arterial lines
- Monitor cardiac status and respond to changes, including administering IV vasopressors when indicated
- Document accurately in Epic and complete medication reconciliation and discharge instructions
- Support pre‑op and extended care units and float to other UCSF campuses as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, interpretation services) to optimize patient care
- Current CA RN license (required)
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience (job notes also list 5 years of overall experience)
- Comfortable with airway management, anesthesia recovery, and advanced pain management
- Experience with Epic charting (required)
- Ability and willingness to float to other UCSF campuses
- Preferred: CCRN or CPAN certification and 2 years critical care experience
- PACU care and perioperative nursing skills
- Airway management and anesthesia recovery techniques
- Pain management strategies and patient education
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and arterial line management
- Cardiac monitoring and 12‑lead EKG acquisition
- Administration of IV vasopressors and other critical medications
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health record
- Pre/post‑op care across surgical specialties (ENT, GI, Gyn, Ophthalmology, Robotics, Urology)
