San Francisco, California Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgical Surgery Locum Tenens Opportunity
Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking California‑licensed Nurse Practitioners for a locum tenens opportunity in San Francisco, California. This role involves providing comprehensive neurosurgical care in a hospital setting, managing both inpatient and outpatient adult patients with complex neurological conditions.
Opportunity Highlights- Nurse Practitioner locum tenens position
- Contract Length: 26 weeks with options to extend and convert to permanent
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Setting:
Hospital inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery department - EMR:
Epic - Patient census varies from 8 to 20 patients per day depending on transfer flow and facility volume
- Focus on post‑op management, case coordination, imaging orders, and invasive procedures such as drain pulls
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, day shift
- Hours:
08:00 – 17:00
- Managing adult patients in neurosurgery, including brain tumor care, neuro ICU, meningiomas, and other complex neurosurgical cases
- Inpatient responsibilities:
Brain tumor management, neuro ICU oversight, coordination of transfers from other facilities - Outpatient duties:
Post‑operative follow‑up, case management, ordering imaging and scans - Special procedures:
Pulling drains (training available on EVD drains) - Participating in multidisciplinary team discussions and care planning within Epic EMR
- Hospital inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery department in a Level II trauma center
- Receives high‑acuity transfers from regional facilities
- EMR:
Epic
- Active California Nurse Practitioner license
- Certification: ACNP‑BC, AGACNP‑BC, ACNPC‑AG, or ACNPC
- DEA license for California with Schedule 2/2N registration
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1‑2 years of experience in neurosurgery or complex surgical floors, neuro ICU experience preferred
- Prior experience with neuro ICU patients or neurosurgical post‑op management
- Ability to perform drain pulls or willingness to learn
