- Administers nursing care to patients under physicians’ or registered nurses’ instructions; prepares, administers, and records medications and injections.
- Obtains patient histories, observes, reports, and records physiological and psychosocial signs, and takes vital signs.
- Maintains accurate medical records and documents patient progress to meet legal requirements and support follow‑up care.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and clean clinical environment, including adequate supplies and equipment.
- Provides direct patient care to make patients clean and comfortable, and may serve and feed patients or assist with elimination functions.
- Instructs and counsels patients on physical self‑care and emotional needs related to test and specimen collection.
- Understands human relationships among patients, families, and other health‑care personnel.
- Recognizes the effect of social, economic, cultural, and religious factors on patients and their families.
- When working in specialized areas, performs specialized procedures as approved by nursing service policy after receiving appropriate training.
- May perform other duties as assigned or required.
- Valid California Vocational Nurse License issued by the California State Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners (permanent, temporary, or interim).
- All other qualifications applicable to a 2312 Licensed Vocational Nurse position.
