Job Overview
This position utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The RN will provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Cardiology Department during all phases of the patient care experience (pre‑procedural, intra‑procedural, and post‑procedural). The role requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and participation in on‑call and late‑stay shifts as required.

Required Qualifications- Flexibility to orient and work across all UCSF Medical Center locations
- Ability to provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Cardiology Department across all phases of care (pre‑procedural, intra‑procedural, and post‑procedural)
- Ability to wear a lead apron as required for Interventional Radiology, Neuro Interventional Radiology, and Diagnostic Radiology procedures
- Ability to monitor patient condition and vital signs before, during, and after procedures
- Ability to administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Experience maintaining accurate and detailed patient records and documentation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Participation in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives
- Availability to participate in on‑call and late‑stay shifts
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of combined experience in PACU, ICU, or CCU, including at least one (1) year of Cath Lab experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of directly related RN experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab, Interventional Radiology (IR), or Cardiac Catheterization Lab
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience or equivalent, including at least one (1) year of recent critical care experience with demonstrated knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring
- Knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization procedures, including equipment, accessories, sterile technique, and patient care practices
- Ability to provide patient education based on plan of care, procedural guidelines, and organizational standards
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification for Adult Critical Care RNs
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required for applicable units)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required for applicable units)
- APHON or ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider certification (required for applicable units)
- Previous RN experience in pre‑and post‑procedure care of adult interventional cardiology patients
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) and/or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) certification
