American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a teaching hospital, requiring CA RN license, BSN, and prior travel assignment experience.
Details- Operating Room unit within a teaching hospital setting
- Handles Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS), Craniotomy, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS), Plastic Surgery, Dental Surgery, and combined Neurosurgery/OHNS procedures
- Performs open and endoscopic surgical cases including free flap reconstructive procedures
- Additional experience with liver, kidney, and neuro transplant cases, as well as spine and vascular procedures
- Utilizes the Da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Ability to float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active CA RN license required
- BSN required
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of experience required
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- Previous charge experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Scrub and circulate skills required
- Epic charting system experience required
- ACLS and CNOR certifications preferred
- 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration
- Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurology, cardiovascular, general surgery, endoscopic, robotics, urology, ENT, bariatrics, transplant, thoracic, and podiatry procedures
- Perform key professional duties such as administration of blood and blood products, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (time out) procedures, and urinary bladder catheterization
- Operate specialized equipment including cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Steris systems
- Respond to emergency situations including code response, fire safety, latex allergy protocols, and malignant hyperthermia management
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel positions
- Any prior employment with a University of California medical facility or its acquired facilities must be disclosed for a rehire eligibility check
- Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit
- RTO must be disclosed at time of submission and approved by the manager; no additional requests accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
