Nurse Educator, Director of Nursing, Healthcare Nursing
Lead nursing in one of San Francisco's most personalized medical practices.
Private Medical is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse Manager to lead our San Francisco nursing team at our Laurel Heights practice.
This is an opportunity for a nurse leader who wants to step away from the pace and complexity of traditional hospital medicine and into a more thoughtful model of care...one built around long-term patient relationships, clinical excellence, collaboration, and time to do things well.
At Private Medical, our physicians care for a deliberately limited number of members, allowing our teams to know patients deeply and provide highly personalized, relationship-centered care. Our San Francisco practice is an established, sophisticated medical environment where nurses work closely with physicians and other clinicians to deliver an exceptional experience at every point of care.
We are looking for a leader who is equally passionate about people and clinical excellence—someone who can develop a strong nursing team, maintain rigorous clinical standards, and help create an environment where excellent nurses want to build their careers.
Why This Role is Different:If you are an experienced nurse leader who is tired of managing in environments where everything is about volume, staffing shortages, and putting out fires, this may be a very different kind of leadership opportunity.
Here, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead and develop a talented team of RNs, MAs, and CPTs
- Build strong, lasting relationships with patients, physicians, and colleagues
- Partner closely with physicians and site leadership on clinical care and practice improvement
- Establish and maintain a culture of patient safety and clinical excellence
- Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and professional development
- Improve clinical workflows and introduce thoughtful, evidence-based practices
- Help shape how nursing operates within a growing, physician-led organization
- Work in an environment where quality of care matters more than volume
- Become part of a team that values professionalism, curiosity, collaboration, and exceptional service

Collaborate with the CMO and specialists for specific departmental goals and needs. - Policy and Procedure Development:
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive clinical policies, procedures, and protocols that align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals. - Staff Management and Development:
Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and professional development of nursing staff within the assigned region and/or locations. Direct reports may range from 10-25 staff members including RNs, MAs, LVNs and other licensed and unlicensed personnel supporting clinical needs, inventory and phlebotomy (referred to as the nursing team). - Performance Optimization:
Collaborate with site leadership and human resources to optimize nursing staff performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. - Staffing Strategy and Efficiency:
Partner with leadership to analyze staffing needs, develop efficient and cost-effective staffing models, and implement strategies to ensure appropriate coverage across all clinical sites. - Data Analysis and Reporting:
