American Traveler seeks a Registered Nurse for Radiation Oncology requiring a CA RN license and 3+ years outpatient oncology experience in an academic medical center setting.
Details- Outpatient Radiation Oncology department within an academic medical center
- Day shift, 5x8 hours with variable start times (6:30am or 10:00am)
- 18-week assignment
- Must be able to float to other facilities within the health system
- Uses Epic for charting
- Active CA RN license required if applicable
- BSN required
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Outpatient oncology experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration
- ACLS, APHON, CHEMO (ONS/ONCC), CPHON, CPN, NIHSS, OCN, ONS/ONCC, and PALS certifications preferred
- Inpatient oncology, pediatric oncology, and radiation oncology experience preferred
- Provide radiation oncology nursing care including administration and monitoring of radiation therapy modalities
- Perform IV therapy, infusions, phlebotomy, and port access/management
- Manage oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, hemorrhage, and spinal cord compression
- Provide symptom management for side effects including nausea, neuropathy, and altered mental status
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy and related medications
- Provide psychosocial care including advance directive discussions
- Perform wound care and comprehensive patient assessments
- May be reassigned to different departments, units, or facilities within a 75+ mile radius during the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as traveler candidates
- Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
- All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract
- Time off cannot be scheduled within the first two weeks of the assignment
