Sutter West Bay Medical Group is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Oncology care team in San Francisco. This is an opportunity to work side-by-side with nationally recognized physicians and advanced practice clinicians in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
What You ll DoYou ll play a key role in guiding adult inpatients through each stage of their hematologic and oncologic journey including:
- New Consultations: Evaluate new inpatient consult requests from the emergency department or hospitalists. Perform face-to-face comprehensive histories and physical exams and work in conjunction with the Oncology attending and CPMC Oncology fellows.
- Patient Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct daily rounds, perform thorough history and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic studies (labs, imaging), and collaborate with physicians to formulate treatment plans, both in-person at VNC Campus and telehealth consults at CPMC s other 2 campuses Davies, Mission Bernal.
- Treatment Management: Prescribe and administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and other therapies per protocols under the supervision of the Oncology attending and Oncology Fellow; monitor and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Acute Care & Complication Management: Address treatment-related toxicities, infections, bleeding, and other acute medical issues (i.e. tumor lysis syndrome, cord compression) under the supervision of the Oncology attending and Oncology Fellow
- Palliative & End-of-Life Care: Provide symptom management such as expert pain management, comfort care, and coordinate hospice or palliative services when appropriate, or in coordination with the CPMC Palliative Care and Inpatient Hospice services.
- Care Coordination: Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, holistic patient care, including referrals to specialists and home healthcare with primary hospitalist and subspecialty teams, inpatient nurses, clinical pharmacists, social workers, Palliative Care inpatient service, and case managers.
- Transition of care: Facilitate safe discharge planning, outpatient oncology follow-up, or transfer to specialized units.
- Patient & Family Education: Teach patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, side effects, and self-care strategies
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely medical records of assessments, treatments, and patient responses in accordance with Inpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement training to support appropriate quality metrics and length of stay.
- Work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team

Education
- Education: Master s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) with a focus in Adult-Gerontology, Family, or Acute Care NP; certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN ) preferred
- Active and unrestricted California NP or PA license
- DEA Controlled Substance Registration (CSRC)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Prior experience within inpatient oncology/hematology units, infusion services, or related advanced practice roles
- Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration; ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
