DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Clinic RN with a CA RN license and outpatient oncology experience for a day-shift assignment at a teaching hospital.
Details- Outpatient Oncology Clinic setting within a teaching hospital environment
- Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Ability to float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Performs telephone triage and symptom assessment for oncology patients
- Active CA RN license required at time of submission
- BSN required
- AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
- Minimum 2 years of Oncology experience in Med Onc or Surg Onc
- Minimum 1 year of Ambulatory experience
- Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required
- Outpatient Oncology experience required
- Teaching Hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
- Preferred certifications include ACLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC), OCN, and ONS/ONCC
- BMT experience preferred
- Skilled in psychosocial care, advanced directives, and patient/family education and support
- Experience with IV therapy/infusions, port care, and PICC line care preferred
- Knowledge of care coordination, neutropenic precautions, tracheostomy care, and wound care
- Experience managing symptoms such as constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, and nausea/vomiting
- Experience caring for patients with ear/nose/throat cancers, lung cancer, melanoma, and ovarian/uterine cancer preferred
- Skilled in chemotherapy monitoring and oral chemotherapy administration
- Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
- Two professional references from most recent employer required
- Provide comprehensive oncology nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting, including chemotherapy monitoring and symptom management
- Support patients and families with psychosocial care, education, and advanced directive discussions
- Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
- All requested time off must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract and none permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as traveling candidates
- Travel pairs may be placed at the same facility but generally not on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
