American Traveler is hiring an RN Lactation Consultant with IBCLC certification and postpartum experience for a role in a teaching hospital setting requiring a CA RN license.

• Postpartum/Lactation Consultant unit within a hospital setting
• Day and evening shift options (8 or 12 hour shifts) totaling 32 hours per week
• Variable scheduling across days and evenings
• Ability to float to other facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed
• Epic charting system used

• Active CA RN license required
• BSN required
• AHA BLS certification required
• IBCLC certification required
• Minimum 1 year of postpartum experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be documented in employment history
• Epic charting experience required
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

• Provide postpartum care including breastfeeding instruction, breast milk collection and storage, and use of electric/manual breast pumps
• Support baby-friendly protocols and manage breast engorgement
• Care for postpartum patients following cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy induced hypertension, and vaginal delivery
• Provide newborn care including infant identification and discharge teaching to parents
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel positions
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with full employment history for rehire eligibility review
• All requested time off must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract and none permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
