DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital, requiring a CA RN license, BSN, and high-acuity PACU experience.
Details- Work in the PACU unit of a Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital
- Recover high-acuity patients including kidney transplant, craniotomy, transaortic valve replacement, spine surgery, ICU, and VATS cases
- Provides Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, and Pre-Post care
- Day and evening shift options available (3x12 hours), including , , , , or
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Uses Epic for charting
- May float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius, subject to meeting job specifications
- Active CA RN license required at time of submission
- BSN required
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- CCRN and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant inpatient PACU experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required and must be reflected in employment history
- Level I Trauma Center experience required;
Level II preferred - Epic charting experience required
- Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration
- Provide recovery care for complex surgical and ICU patient populations across multiple specialties including cardiac, neuro, vascular, transplant, and orthopedic cases
- Skilled in airway management, ventilator care, cardiac monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery protocols
- Experience with a wide range of surgical case types including bariatrics, gynecology, ENT, urology, and thoracic procedures preferred
- Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
- All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager; no additional time off requests accepted mid-contract, and none permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
- Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work together on the same unit
