Experienced Travel Oncology Registered Nurses can join a collaborative medical-surgical oncology team caring for adult and geriatric patients in San Francisco, California. This on-site California travel nursing opportunity offers the chance to support complex oncology and postoperative patients while providing compassionate, patient-centered care in a dynamic teaching-hospital environment.   • Healthcare Setting: Medical-surgical oncology unit
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
  • Start Date: October 27, 2026
  • Assignment Duration: Approximately 10 weeks, ending January 5, 2027
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour shifts
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Shift Options: Day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
  • Rotation: Day/night rotation may occur over a four-week scheduling period, but shifts will not rotate within the same week
  • Patient Population: Adult and geriatric oncology and postoperative patients
  • Unit Profile: 28-bed medical-surgical oncology unit with an average daily census of approximately 21 patients
  • Electronic Medical Record: Epic
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Floating: Ability to float to other affiliated facilities or units based on qualifications and staffing needs
Travel Oncology RN

Job Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical oncology; this requirement is firm
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first‑time travelers are not accepted
  • Current California Registered Nurse license in hand
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification required
  • Teaching‑hospital experience required
  • Recent Epic charting experience required
  • Experience caring for approximately four to five patients per nurse preferred
  • Telemetry and ostomy care experience preferred
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certificate course and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred
  • Demonstrated competency with chemotherapy monitoring and administration, central lines, ports, blood products, IV therapy, PICC lines, wound care, drains, ostomies, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, PCA therapy, and oxygen management
  • Two professional references from the most recent employer required at submission
  • All requested time off must be disclosed before submission and approved before the assignment begins
Oncology Registered Nurse Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric oncology and postoperative patients
  • Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes
  • Administer and monitor chemotherapy and other high‑risk medications according to established protocols
  • Provide care for patients with urological, gynecological, colorectal, orthopedic, breast, head and neck, liver, and pancreatic conditions
  • Manage central lines, implanted ports, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, blood products, and phlebotomy needs
  • Provide complex wound care, wound‑vac management, ostomy care, surgical drain care, and tracheostomy care
  • Support postoperative pain‑management modalities, including patient‑controlled analgesia and epidural therapy
  • Monitor for changes in condition, recognize complications, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate timely interventions
  • Educate patients and caregivers on medications, procedures, symptom management, wound and ostomy care, and discharge instructions
