Office Plant Maintenance Associate (Horticulture/Irrigation)

$30/hr (Weekly pay + Medical Benefits)
32 hours a week:
Either M/Tue/Thur OR Tue/Wed/Thur (8hr days)
6–12-month contract (Great potential for extension or permanent)

Our client is a privately owned global real estate investment, development, and management firm, founded in 1957, with a presence in 395 cities across 30 countries and $95.70 billion in assets under management.
Plant maintenance at several properties in the Bay Area, primarily in San Francisco. Main properties are mostly walking distance from each other. Work environments include offices, lobbies, atriums, courtyards, roof gardens, and plazas, caring for a range of plants from large tropical specimens to pollinator gardens to edible gardens. This variety is one of the things that makes this position unique.
Responsibilities- Perform general horticulture maintenance such as watering, planting, weeding, pest management, irrigation, fertilizing, mulching, cleaning, and pruning
- Interact with coworkers, building staff, tenants, visitors, and contractors with the highest professionalism and courtesy
- Cleaning and maintenance of a small nursery facility
- Assist with projects such as seasonal color rotations, plant replacements and installations, holiday décor, set-up for special events, and other activities as requested
- Experience (personal or professional) caring for plants and basic understanding of different types of plants — indoor and outdoor
- Must have some understanding of irrigation processes
- Able to perform duties such as weeding, pest management, irrigation, fertilizing, mulching, cleaning, and pruning
- Bonus (not required):
Education or coursework in Horticulture - Able to maintain nursery areas within the building and rooftop garden
- Must be very comfortable getting dirty and enjoy hands-on work
- Comfortable walking and moving around throughout the day within the building
- Must be highly professional and comfortable working in a corporate environment with office staff
- Basic knowledge of or interest in learning about tropical plants and their watering, nutritional, and pest control needs (training provided)
- Interested in supporting plant installations throughout the office
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs., and navigate stairs and ladders as needed
- Work schedules are somewhat flexible; occasional weekend work may be required with notice
- Comfortable working in an environment that is approximately 60% indoors and 40% outdoors
