Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Inspector inspects and troubleshoots quality issues on the job site, works with onsite management to resolve problems, and completes audits and necessary paperwork to ensure compliance.
Primary Responsibilities- Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company, maintaining Cooper Steel’s core priorities:
Safety, Quality, Production - Ensure Cooper Steel and subcontractors maintain compliance with AISC, AWS, RCSC, SDI codes and standards
- Perform daily quality audits on Cooper Steel projects
- Review and coordinate issues and discrepancies with the site management team, offering corrective actions or requesting an RFI through the project management team as needed
- Coordinate with erector and third-party inspectors to schedule inspections
- Advise and consult On-Site Project Managers and Field Crews on quality-related matters that may arise on projects
- Assist in quality training with Cooper Steel and/or Subcontractor field crews as needed
- Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience- Minimum of 2 years of experience in steel erection or welding inspection, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- AWS certified welding inspector
- Knowledge of AISC, AWS, RCSC codes and standards, with ability to research, answer specific questions and solve field quality issues
Strong functional and technical skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; strong attention to detail; ability to work effectively with others. Duties require standing, stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, pulling, and reaching. Hands used for gripping and grasping. Vision requirements. Lifting up to 75 lbs. Flexible hours and willingness to work overtime.
Work EnvironmentThe position performs work in the field environment including job site conditions, varying terrain, weather conditions, access to multi-level structures, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use. The position is 100% travel with a paid rotation schedule.
