Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced EHS professional with a minimum of 3 years of applied safety experience supporting regulatory compliance, site inspections, and safety program development. This role is based in South San Francisco, CA and supports site-based environmental health and safety programs within a biotechnology and research environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, biosafety programs, and environmental compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Support implementation and compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments
- Develop, implement, and deliver EHS and biosafety training programs
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; develop corrective and preventative actions
- Support environmental compliance programs including air, water, and hazardous waste management
- Maintain EHS documentation, reports, and regulatory records
- Track and analyze EHS metrics and performance indicators
- Support development of site‑specific safety plans and procedures
- Provide technical guidance on safety, biosafety, and industrial hygiene matters
- Collaborate with operations, laboratory personnel, and management to improve safety culture
- Stay current on regulatory changes and assess impacts to site operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field (required)
- Minimum 3 years of professional EHS experience
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and applicable state regulations
- Valid driver’s license (if required for local travel)
- Experience supporting biotechnology, laboratory, or research environments
- Experience with biosafety programs and regulatory compliance
- OSHA 30‑hour certification
- HAZWOPER 40‑hour certification
- Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, RBP, or CBSP (preferred)
- Experience with environmental programs (air, water, hazardous waste)
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast‑paced environment
This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and requires on‑site work at a biotechnology research facility. The role involves collaboration with laboratory staff, operations teams, and EHS leadership to support a safe and compliant working environment.
