Food Safety & Quality Technician

The Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products meet quality standards, food safety requirements, and regulatory compliance guidelines. This role conducts inspections, monitors production processes, maintains accurate documentation, and supports the implementation of food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure the delivery of safe, high‑quality products.

Essential Functions
  • Review and maintain all Quality Assurance and Quality Control records, documents, and samples pertaining to HACCP, USDA, and FDA
  • Coordinate activities with regulatory agents such as USDA and FDA
  • Prepare and directly manage third‑party customer audits
  • Review food safety processes and procedures
  • Oversee inspection of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods to ensure the highest quality of products are delivered to customers
  • Initial and ongoing training of employees on policies and procedures
  • Daily observations of production processes from preparation to packaging
  • Conduct weekly evaluation of products and ingredients (e.g., Chef Tables)
  • Complete necessary microbiological testing (internal and external) such as in‑house ATP, in‑house Listeria spp., and Silliker Listeria spp.
  • Attend bi‑weekly QA conference calls
  • Other duties assigned by Unit Manager and/or Corporate Quality Assurance
  • Knowledge of internal policies and procedures
  • Work independently within area of expertise
  • Solve quality‑related problems
  • Deal with a variety of compliance situations and implement continuous improvement
  • Follow all safety requirements and strive to maintain a safe work environment
  • Give and receive feedback effectively; ask questions and seek direction as needed
  • Function within a team environment
  • Perform tasks under general supervision
Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous knowledge working in food production quality assurance or related experience
  • BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs and SOPs (preferred)
  • Knowledge of food industry quality and sanitation standards and requirements
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Computer literate – Word & Excel mandatory
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organizational skills
  • Able to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in English language, both written and oral
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
