About the Role:Locus Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Development Technologist or Research Technician to join its 2-year rotational program. This entry-level role is designed for individuals eager to gain hands-on exposure across Research & Development (R&D) and Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) in a clinical-stage biotech company.
The candidate should be passionate about phage engineering, biotechnology drug development, synthetic biology, and GMP manufacturing. This program offers structured learning across multiple departments — from early-stage discovery to drug product manufacturing.
The selected candidate will rotate through several functional areas, including:
- High Throughput Development (automation workflows)
- Bioinformatics
- cGMP Manufacturing
- Analytical Development
- Quality Control & Quality Assurance
- Clinical Lab & Clinical Operations
- Project Management
- Cloning, PCR, Gibson assembly
- NGS library preparation
- Engineering and characterization of novel phage constructs
- DNA sequence analysis and comparative genomics
- Culturing aerobic and obligate anaerobic bacteria
- Phage production and activity characterization
- High-throughput screening of phage activity
- Bench-scale bioreactor operations
- Tangential flow filtration (TFF)
- Real-time GMP documentation (GDP)
- Data infrastructure development for CMC and R&D operations
- Bachelor’s to Master’s degree in:
Biology, Biotechnology,Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Technology - Having a technical biomanufacturing certification
- Experience in regulated environments (GLP, GDP, cGMP)
- Molecular cloning & microbiology techniques
- Experience with anaerobic microbiology
