Job Summary
We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and motivated Specialist to join the UCSF Quantitative Bioscience Institute (QBI) Research and Engineering to Accelerate Discovery (READY) Center Team. This role will focus on utilizing cutting‑edge CRISPR gene editing methods to support cell engineering projects that are part of a larger research platform designed to study disease biology at the cellular level and identify new therapeutic modalities.
Responsibilities- Assist in CRISPR/Cas9 editing experiments to create a vast library of different genomic edits under the general supervision of the READY Center Manager.
- BA/BS in natural sciences (preferably Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology or Chemical Biology) or a related science and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience in routine cell culture of mammalian cell lines.
- Practical knowledge and application of basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. nucleic acid extraction, PCR, cloning).
- Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments in online or physical laboratory notebooks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Creative thinker with strong problem‑solving abilities and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to clearly communicate information and actively listen to others.
- Constructively communicate with peers and management to foster a supportive atmosphere.

- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- BS or BA in natural science (preferably Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology or Chemical Biology) or a related science and one or more years of laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with generating iPSCs.
- Demonstrated proficiency with CRISPR/Cas tools and their applications for genome editing and high‑throughput functional genomics.
- Experience with automated or semi‑automated systems for cell culture or molecular biology techniques.
- Ability to independently perform routine molecular biology assays such as PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid extraction.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Understanding of sequencing methods and their application.

Salary Range: $28.04 – $45.09 (Hourly Rate)
