Employment Duration

3 months (w/ potential for extension)

The Project Coordinator applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies or projects of moderate scope and complexity to address a variety of policy, research, and procedural issues. The incumbent analyzes issues and problems, gathers data and information, evaluates alternatives, and makes recommendations.

The Project Coordinator will assist Project Leaders and work under general supervision to support departmental and principal investigator research and community programs. The role utilizes organizational, communication, technical, coordination, and analytical skills. Responsibilities include communication, coordination, and tracking of deliverables for The Kidney Project (TKP) and the Master of Translational Medicine (MTM) program. The position also supports implementation activities, organizes and executes meetings and events, and manages day‑to‑day social and digital media channels, including websites, social media platforms, and email communications for The Kidney Project (TKP) and the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences.

Attendance at MTM events, including orientation at UCSF and UC Berkeley, Winter Showcase, MTM Symposium, and Commencement, is required and may occur outside regularly scheduled workdays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and assemble analytical and factual data on assigned issues and prepare reports and analyses that summarize findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare, edit, and modify research reports, manuscripts, presentations, proposals, newsletters, and website content.
  • Assist Project Leaders in developing research project plans and interpreting results.
  • Collaborate on manuscript preparation for publication.
  • Review journals, abstracts, and scientific literature to support research planning and stay informed of new developments.
  • Collect and prepare information for meetings and discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create agendas and organize regular meetings in consultation with principal investigators.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and facilitate domestic and international meetings and teleconferences.
  • Provide analytical support for research initiatives, programs, and organizational activities.
  • Assist with data management and support monitoring and evaluation activities, including data entry.
  • Participate in administrative and research policy and program planning and development.
  • Coordinate program activities and communications among project teams and collaborating partners.
  • Participate in preparation for regularly scheduled meetings with project teams.
  • Maintain awareness of project status and assist with ongoing activities as needed.
  • Capture, summarize, and distribute meeting minutes and action items.
  • Prepare briefing materials, meeting packets, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct literature searches and analyses of background information to support program objectives and knowledge management initiatives.
  • Report on the status of assigned projects and support additional project-related activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Working knowledge of common organizational, research-specific, and other computer application programs.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Ability to analyze, research, and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within demanding time frames.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification  positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
