Job Function Summary
Involves gathering, analyzing, and interpreting a wide variety of research data. Designs and conducts research including selecting data samples, developing research instruments, analyzing collected information according to established statistical methods, and developing recommendations based on research findings. Prepares reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids to interpret and communicate data and results.

Key Responsibilities- Plans long‑term statistical studies, including the preparation of proposals, design of survey instruments and determining sampling procedures.
- Oversees and conducts the statistical component of new and ongoing protocols.
- Works closely with research team members (e.g., principal investigators, research managers, trainees, CRCs) to support the conduct of the research.
- Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes the collection of information and data; recommends statistical approaches, trends, sources and uses.
- Helps manage, analyze, interpret, and report on statistical findings.
- Prepares data for presentation.
- Conducts complex statistical analyses and prepares findings for presentation at professional meetings and publication in medical journals.
- Identifies multivariate strategies.
- Prepares reports of studies for internal validation and cross‑validation studies.
- Analyzes interrelationships of data and defines logical aspects of data sets.
- Develops systems for organizing data to analyze, identify and report trends.
- Manages database of research data for projects.
- Obtains solutions and manages multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities.
- Reviews new software instruments and potential effects on statistical testing; may make programming modifications.
- Keeps abreast of technical advances in storage, documentation and dissemination of computerized data.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Three or more years of experience performing complex statistical analysis.
- Thorough knowledge of research function.
- Strong skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, biostatistics, and informatics.
- Analytical and consultative skills.
- Strong communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
- Research skills to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
- Expertise with R, STATA, PRISM, Microsoft Office.
- Graphic design experience—ability to create presentations and publications (briefs, dashboards) using software such as Publisher.
- Master’s degree in a related area.
- Familiarity with cardiopulmonary physiology and lung and heart function measurements.
- Project‑management skills.
