Staff Research Associate III
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will perform specialized and routine data analysis procedures and advanced data collection techniques in controlled experiments at the VAARC and VA Advanced Imaging Technologies Laboratory. Position will aid in an ongoing research projects developing technology for investigating brain structure/function. The incumbent will also assist in other related research activities and administrative tasks.
Lead the collection of 3T and 7T MRI, spectroscopy, and neuropsychological data, and operate all relevant software
Ensure IRB protocols are followed and up to date
Conduct safety screening for MRI data collection
Schedule and organize visits to the SFVAMC for all study procedures
Maintain databases, subject information folders, and subject payment forms
Assist PI, residents and fellows in literature review, study design, data analysis and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, abstracts for scientific meetings, and grant proposals
Present at scientific meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Ph.D. degree in physics, neuroscience, psychology or related field
Also considered: M.A. or M.S. while working toward doctoral degree
2-3 years previous experience in MRI lab is highly desirable
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Preferred: prior experience with MR spectroscopy
Preferred: prior experience with 7T MRI
The work environment for this position will include an indoor office and a medical research environment. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, temperature variations, etc. The incumbent may sustain posture in standing or seated position and may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.
NCIRE is an affiliate organization of the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS), which requires all candidates to complete SFVA onboarding in addition to NCIRE's onboarding process. The SFVA is a federal agency that requires a federal background check, occupational health clearance, vaccines and immunizations, and drug testing for certain positions. Drug testing may include screening for marijuana which remains an illegal substance according to federal law.
The failure to pass required drug testing will disqualify candidates from employment.
The base wage range for this position is $33.80 - $38.28 per hour. The wage actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate's geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.
