Position Overview
This position requires a motivated, organized person who can communicate and coordinate well with others, and has an interest in cutting‑edge systems neuroscience and physiology, especially gut‑brain communication. The applicant must have previous academic research laboratory experience beyond coursework, preferably in neuroscience or related fields, and be comfortable handling and manipulating rodents. Training on specific assays and equipment will be provided.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Run rodent behavioral experiments in a systems neuroscience laboratory (neural recordings, neural manipulations, intestinal recordings, etc.).
- Help with data analysis and perform basic molecular biology.
- Process tissue for histology.
- Coordinate assistance with experiments in collaboration with the supervisor, with opportunities to develop an individual project.
- Mouse handling and collection of experimental behavioral/neural data (photometry recordings, optogenetic/chemo genetic behavioral experiments, electrophysiology recordings, real‑time fluoroscopy, other behavioral assays).
- Processing and analysis of neural and behavioral data using MATLAB and Python.
- Perform tissue processing and histology of brain and peripheral samples (transcardial perfusion, tissue sectioning and mounting, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, microscopy image acquisition).
- SRA I: BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic related scientific techniques and procedures as learned from research laboratory experience.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Maintenance of accurate, complete, and legible records.
- Ability to work independently or with close supervision.
- Ability to work in‑person on a daily basis.
- Ability to handle and manipulate mice routinely.
- Eagerness to learn new techniques.

In addition to the above, one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
