The Mucke Laboratory at the Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease is looking for a dedicated Research Associate I/II who is eager to actively contribute to unraveling the mechanisms of major brain disorders and to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for these challenging conditions.

Job Duties- Maintenance of a complex colony of genetically engineered mouse models, including acquisition, breeding, genotyping and distribution of mice, and computerized record‑keeping.
- Small rodent surgeries, including stereotactic injections and electrode implantations.
- Preparation and maintenance of primary cell cultures.
- Molecular biology techniques, including cloning, protein assays, gel electrophoresis, western blotting and RT‑qPCR.
- Histology and light microscopy techniques, including fixation and sectioning of tissues, immunostaining and image processing.
- A BS/BA in neuroscience, biology or a related field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Candidates should excel in work ethic, organizational and interpersonal skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
Requires bending, squatting, climbing stairs; pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting, standing, walking; carrying/lifting 20-25 pounds; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; may be exposed to chemical agents.
Salary RangeRA I: $28.35/hr. ($58,968) – $32.67/hr. ($67,949).
RA II: $70,304 – $82,711.
