Position Overview
The Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) seeks a recognized leader in prostate cancer research to serve as the next Director of the Benioff Initiative for Prostate Cancer Research (BIPCR). This is a unique opportunity to lead a cross‑institutional research program dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying aggressive prostate cancer and developing strategies to cure metastatic disease.
ResponsibilitiesAs Director of BIPCR, the incumbent will lead a multidisciplinary research program, coordinate cross‑institutional collaborations, oversee large research projects, and mentor early‑career scientists. The role requires effective communication with external stakeholders and strategic leadership to advance the Initiative’s mission.
Qualifications- Internationally recognized physician‑scientist with an outstanding track record in basic and translational cancer research.
- Must possess an MD, MD‑PhD, or equivalent.
- Research portfolio and funding focused on prostate cancer.
- Strong history of peer‑reviewed research funding and publications in leading peer‑reviewed journals.
- Track record in leading and managing large research projects or collaborations beyond own laboratory.
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring early‑career scientists.
- Ability to communicate effectively with external stakeholders.
UCSF offers a highly competitive startup package. The selected candidate will be appointed as the George and Judy Marcus Distinguished Professor and may be considered for leadership roles in the UCSF Prostate Cancer SPORE and/or the HDFCCC Cancer Center Support Grant‑funded Prostate Cancer Program.
The minimum base salary range for this position is $150,200 – $319,800. This position is part of the health sciences compensation plan, which provides eligibility for additional compensation.
