Job Description
Under direct supervision, applies professional bioinformatics concepts and computational procedures to complete small projects or portions of projects. Works on assignments of limited scope and complexity. Follows standard programming procedures to analyze situations and data from which answers can be readily obtained.
The Division of Experimental Medicine is a translational, wet lab research unit comprised of 8 immunological research groups consisting of 10 faculty members and 65+ staff, trainees, and post‑docs. Our labs use cutting edge technologies to answer clinically important questions about host‑pathogen interactions across globally devastating infectious diseases, including HIV, Malaria, SARS‑CoV‑2, and Tuberculosis.

Key Responsibilities- Apply professional bioinformatics concepts and computational procedures to complete small projects or portions of projects.
- Work on assignments of limited scope and complexity.
- Follow standard programming procedures to analyze situations and data to derive answers.
- Debug and utilize basic computer programs.
- Utilize basic software tools to analyze or interpret biological or research data of limited scope and complexity.
- Apply basic algorithms, techniques, and statistical methodologies to conduct data analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in biological science, computational/programming, or related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience with analyzing data from 10X Xenium data on human gut or other tissues.
- Experience with data analysis and bioinformatics of viral infectious diseases in human blood and tissues.
- Experience with applying spatial transcriptomics to human biological samples.
- Basic knowledge of bioinformatics methods and data structures.
- Basic project management skills.
- Basic knowledge of modern biology and applicable field of research.
- Interpersonal skills to work with both technical and non‑technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
- Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Self‑motivated, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines, and demonstrate problem‑solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of application and data security concepts.
- Master’s degree in biological sciences, pharmacogenomics, computational analysis, artificial intelligence, or related area.
- Basic knowledge of applications programming and web development.
- Basic knowledge of databases.
