The Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences (BTS) seeks individuals with a strong understanding of research development to lead innovative research programs aimed at improving health worldwide. The ultimate goal is to ensure better health through better therapeutics.

Specific responsibilities include leadership and management of grant programs focused on investigating genetic variations in individuals’ responses to therapeutics and the regulatory mechanisms for optimal health. The role provides research faculty with senior management collaboration and ideation to advance the research agenda on multiple fronts.

The Assistant/Associate/Full Professional Researcher interacts closely with faculty and staff at UCSF, promoting collaborative research between laboratories and other faculty. The individual plays a key role in large national and international collaborative projects and provides guidance to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in laboratory-based projects or data analysis.

• A doctorate degree or equivalent in a related biomedical field (by hire date), preferably in pharmacy, medicinal chemistry, bioengineering, or bioinformatics.
• PhD preferred.
• Strong understanding of biopharmaceutical, therapeutic, regulatory, or related sciences.
• Experience working with government agencies or other national health and science-related agencies preferred.
• Advanced communication and presentation experience preferred.
• Experience with grant awards, scholarly publications, and international projects preferred.
• A publication record commensurate with faculty level and at least 2 years of experience training and supervising scientists in a laboratory setting.
• Candidacy must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment.
