Position Description

UCSF School of Medicine and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals – Department of Pediatrics.

Rank:
Assistant, Associate or Full (rank commensurate with experience).

Appointment within the Professional Researcher Series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank. Candidates are expected to demonstrate continuous and effective engagement in independent and creative research activity of high quality and significance.

• Earned a doctorate or its equivalent.

• Success in grant submissions.
• Success in mentorship and training.
• Completion of postdoctoral fellowship.

• Develop and conduct research projects in the laboratory of an established Principal Scientist with minimal guidance.
• Maintain productive interactions with laboratory staff members and postdoctoral fellows.
• Participate in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, and in preparing and presenting research results in scientific settings.
• Other essential functions:
  • Excellent understanding of one or more research areas.
  • Ability to adapt and, with direction, set up experimental protocols and analytical procedures.
  • Participation in theoretical analysis of experimental results and devising subsequent experiments or analyses.
  • Keep current on recent trends in specific research interests.
  • May maintain equipment, work area and supplies for specific projects.
  • Share findings with others.
  • May train individuals in specific research areas.

Estimated range: $93,400 - $248,400 (see Table 13B).
