We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistantto join our Downstream Process Development (Purification) team. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in biologics purification and laboratory operations within a fast‑growing biotechnology environment.
Position SummaryThe Research Assistant will provide hands‑on laboratory support for downstream purification activities, including buffer preparation, sample processing, filtration, aliquoting, and routine analytical testing. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists to support purification projects involving recombinant proteins, antibodies, and other biologics.
This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys laboratory work, follows procedures carefully, and is interested in building a career in biotechnology and biopharmaceutical development.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare buffers, solutions, and reagents following established protocols.
- Perform accurate sample aliquoting, labeling, and storage.
- Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF)
- Ultrafiltration/diafiltration (UF/DF)
- Perform routine analytical assays including:
- Endotoxin testing
- Protein concentration measurements
- pH and conductivity measurements
- Sample preparation for SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis
- Assist scientists with purification experiments and sample handling.
- Prepare materials and supplies required for laboratory experiments.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, work spaces, and inventory.
- Perform routine cleaning and organization of laboratory areas.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and good documentation practices.
- Support a collaborative team environment by assisting scientists and engineers with daily laboratory activities.
- Associate degree (2-year degree) in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- 0–2 years of laboratory experience through academic training, internships, or industry experience.
- Ability to accurately follow written procedures and protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with:
- Buffer preparation
- Pipetting and sample handling
- Laboratory calculations and solution preparation
- Endotoxin testing
- Previous experience in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic, or research laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN).
- Careful and detail-oriented with strong laboratory discipline.
- Reliable and organized.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn new biotechnology techniques.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Gain hands‑on experience in biologics development and purification.
- Work alongside experienced scientists in a cutting‑edge biotechnology environment.
