We’re seeking a Member of Technical Staff for Biosecurity to lead our safety benchmarking efforts, ensuring frontier artificial intelligence is deployed responsibly in biology.
About the RoleYou will design our technical approach to understand how agents could be misused for biological harm, and measure where current safety guardrails fall short.
You will lead a team of research engineers and biologists building datasets to understand the capabilities of agents in dual-use areas across:
- Protocol design
- Protocol troubleshooting
- DBTL loops
- Genome/protein design
- Biological design tools
- Understanding and working with viruses, bacteria, or toxins etc
- 5+ years hands‑on experience with synthetic biology, virology, microbiology, or bioengineering
- Experience in cloning and genome editing with reverse genetics being a plus
- Must be comfortable coding, running bioinformatics analyses in your area of expertise, and using biological design tools
- Proficiency in Python and/or R
- $180k+ base, increasing with technical depth and experience
