Role Description The Regional Agriculture Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role involves working closely with growers to understand regional production challenges, provide science-based recommendations, and help interpret data and research for practical field applications. The specialist will conduct farm visits, gather and analyze local agronomic information, and translate findings into clear guidance and educational materials.

Responsibilities include delivering presentations, facilitating workshops, supporting grower organizations, and collaborating with internal teams to refine and update Open Hectare’s content and tools. The role also requires building strong professional relationships in the regional agriculture community to increase adoption and impact of Open Hectare’s resources.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Agriculture and Agricultural Production, with experience in regional cropping systems or farming operations.
  • Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly to diverse grower audiences.
  • Solid Analytical Skills to interpret research data, field observations, and performance metrics for practical recommendations.
  • Sales or outreach experience to support grower engagement, relationship building, and adoption of Open Hectare’s solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field; advanced degree is an asset.
  • Experience working with grower organizations, extension services, or agricultural cooperatives is beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, with regular travel within the region.
  • Proficiency with digital tools for data collection, reporting, and communication; familiarity with farm management software is a plus.
